Anna's Blog- Arkansas State University

This is a blog where I document my experiences, my successes, and my trials during this course (Introduction to Internet Communications) for each module as we go through our projects and assignments.

Module 1

Upon embarking on this course I was very nervous. I didn't know what I had gotten myself into. I had to keep rewinding the videos, listening over and over to what my professor was explaining. Although my professor was very informative, I had kind of a mental block. I had taken a coding class in high school and I was very good at it, but I have not done any of that since. However I realized eventually that I was just in the wrong mode on the editor and that was why I could not do anything that my professor was asking of me. I was so relieved when I was able to define my site, which you can see in a photo to the right.

Module 1 Continued

After a lot of work, and a lot of rewinding of the lessons, I was able to create this which you can see to the left. I am very proud of the work that I was able to accomplish as I just put my mind to it! This has been a very rewarding experience so far, and we are just getting started! I know for a fact that I am in the right major now (as I have just switched to this major craving more creativity). I will now begin work on my resume as well as my research for my topic of "History of the Internet".

Presentation Research

After being assigned to my topic of 'History of the Internet', I reached out to my partner and told them that I would set up a google doc for us to share ideas and to research together. I started my research and began to outline our presentation by slide. I am very excited about this presentation!

Resume Creation

I began to work on my resume as suggested. I am very happy with how it has turned out. I am happy to have such a well thought out resume, and I am happy with how professional it has come out.

Module 2

The first thing that I did this week for module two after I made a note of all the things that I had on my to do list, was to answer the question of which statement was a lie on my self introduction. The lie for me was that I had met the prime minister of the UK which sadly is not true at all!

Module 2- Web Critique

I then began working on my web critique. This was a fun assignment for me because it is different than most assignments I have done in the past. This assignment was enlightening in that it opened my eyes to the different ins and outs of what makes a website good or bad. Things that I normally don't really pay attention to as a user. I come away from this assignment with a better knowledge and understanding of what goes into websites, what are good features to have, and design ideas that make things more cohesive!

Module 2- Presentation and Report

This particular project has been a little overwhelming for me because I have never worked on a group project while being an online student before. I do think that as I have started actually tackling the list of to dos for this project, things have been easier than I had once thought. Thankfully my partner is pretty quick with responses and good at communicating. That is a relief. We have actually finished quite a bit of work and we are now in the finishing up stages. I worked really hard on my portion of the project which was creating an outline, helping compile research, and creating our PowerPoint. My partner is now working on the report portion of our work and then we will each read half of the slides and compile them into one video.

Module 2- Project

I waited for my professors feedback and I was told to make it to where when you click on the link for my blog that it does not open an external link but that you stay within my website. I think I was able to accomplish that. Now I will just continue on with the rest of my to do list for this week with my website.
